BBC Shop sent us a box full of lovely goodies to review. Miss B pulled this Something Special DVD out first and watched it straight away. It’s called Mr Tumble and Me, and contains 8 episodes of Something Special lasting 152 minutes in total.
For those of you who don’t know, Something Special is a CBeebies children’s series starring Justin and his alter ego Mr Tumble, as well as other characters from the Tumble family like Grandad Tumble, Aunt Polly and Lord Tumble. Justin and Mr Tumble use sign language and the show is aimed at children with learning and communication difficulties.
My two have always had a soft spot for Mr Tumble, even though they are a bit too ‘grown up’ to watch it now (their words!). But since we’ve had this DVD, Miss B has watched it loads, and it really has rekindled her love for Justin!
Something Special is great for showing children that having a disability doesn’t mean they can’t learn and have fun just like children without disabilities. The show has also helped both of my children, particularly Little S, to communicate without using words, which is a great skill to have.
Something Special – Mr Tumble and Me costs £8.99.
