Diggs Nightcrawler is a bookworm detective from Library City. You become Diggs’ partner and help him to find clues to clear his name as the murderer of Humpty Dumpty and find the pieces to put him back together again.
Diggs instructs you to move and tilt the Wonderbook around to explore the city and scenes. Little S and I loved that this made the game interactive and interesting to play. You turn the book around to see what is happening elsewhere. It’s great that there’s always something new to find.
The backdrop is in Film Noir style and reminded me of an old detective film. The animation is really good and the Wonderbook portrays it brilliantly, although it did take a while to get the camera in place to see everything on the screen in my sons bedroom. You definitely need space to play!
As you play the game you come across different nursery rhyme characters to question. There can be a lot of dialogue and I found that Little S sometimes got bored. The game is aimed at his age group but I think I found it more enjoyable than he did! It was good to play together though and I was quite happy to carry on playing on my own!
Diggs Nightcrawler requires the Wonderbook and Playstation Move to play, but I couldn’t find it as a pack to buy. You can buy everything you need with the Book of Spells in a starter pack for £29.99 and with this game costing around £13.99, the whole lot isn’t too badly priced. I’d definitely recommend the Wonderbook and games for the whole family.
